Who are Fred and Frank? Fred and Frank was a monthly comic written and illustrated by Charles Kaufman between 1979 and 1992 about the off-duty hours of two U.S. servicemen stationed in Europe . The comic appeared monthly as a full-page, black-and-white cartoon. Fred and Frank was dreamed up in the summer of 1979 and first published in late 1979 and appeared almost monthly in a magazine first titled 'Overseas Life' and then 'Overseas!', for 13 years until 1992.

The comics were about the off-duty experiences of two U.S. G.I.s stationed in Germany and experiencing life in Europe. Read each month by close to a million. At it's height in circulation nearly a million U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy plus civilian personnel and their families stationed all over Europe read "Stationed in Germany with Fred and Frank". The cartoon was one of the longest - if not the longest- running military-related cartoons ever published.

The first four of thirteen years of Fred and Frank comics; plus more. This "Stationed in Germany with Fred and Frank" book was original published in 1983. After many requests I decided to re-publish this first Fred and Frank collection of cartoons online and make it available free for all to read. Read the entire book online here.
