|Who are Fred and Frank? |
Fred and Frank was a monthly comic written and illustrated by Charles Kaufman between 1979 and 1992 about the off-duty hours of two U.S. servicemen stationed in Europe .
The comic appeared monthly as a full-page, black-and-white cartoon.
Fred and Frank was dreamed up in the summer of 1979 and first published in late 1979 and appeared almost monthly in a magazine first titled 'Overseas Life' and then 'Overseas!', for 13 years until 1992.

At it's height in circulation nearly a million U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy plus civilian personnel and their families stationed all over Europe read "Stationed in Germany with Fred and Frank".
The cartoon was one of the longest - if not the longest- running military-related cartoons ever published.
